Uganda is one of Africa's poorest and tumultuous countries, ranking 161 out of 187 countries on the United Nations Human Development Index. The countries indexed are categorized into Very High Human Development, High Human Development, Medium Human Development, and Low Human Development, and Uganda falls among the group of countries in the last category.
